ReplyDeleteSuch a great quilt and what an awesome way to use a fabric line!
ReplyDeleteI've said it before, I'll say it again... this quilt is amazing! I especially love it because you used fat quarters with some yardage in a solid color!
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt, lovely design, and great pics! I try not to think of my mistakes as disasters, but as opportunities to get creative!! But my biggest on-going mistake would probably be forgetting that I'm not sewing clothing and taking a bigger seam, then trying to figure out why my blocks don't fit!!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore this pattern and I'm so glad that you are putting it up for sale.
ReplyDeleteOf quilting disasters I have many, but the 2 most memorable are 1. when making a quilt from a Kaffe Fassett quilt, with fabric I sourced from overseas, I cut one of my templates wrong and although I was out by a very small margin I had cut up a mountain of triangles that no longer fit right. There's a lesson in there.
Disaster no 2 involved an intricate appliqued block and an inquisitive child with a rotary cutter..... stack and slash, indeed!
Not too long ago, I was cutting sewn together strips at an angle. I was supposed to turn half of them upside down so the angle would be in the other direction. Somehow missed that line in the instructions!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you made the pattern available! I'll have to think about my biggest quilting disaster...
ReplyDeleteThat quilt is just awesome! This may be another pattern that I have to buy and I'm not a pattern girl...
ReplyDeleteJennifer :)
Your pattern is awesome Becky! You've detailed every step and its so easy to follow with all the diagrams. I love how you've included some tips that I wouldn't have thought of, to make sure you get a fantastic result. Love it!
ReplyDeleteMy first quilt was a disaster from start to finish. Looking forward to sharing. Maybe I'll do a post on it.

ReplyDeleteI've just found your blog and that pattern is really great. My biggest disaster cutting out all the material for a star quilt and getting the measurements wrong!
ReplyDeleteI have been waiting for this pattern to come out! I can't wait to dig in! Please enter me in the giveaway! <3
ReplyDeleteOh, I jumped too quick to comment in my excitement. I'll be back on Sunday. :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous castles! Biggest disaster...hmmm...there have been a few! Probably it was the needleturn applique Christmas wall quilt I made after a class with Sue Cody. Looked gorgeous...hours of work...you have the idea. After the embroidery was complete, I noticed a little blue marker was still visible, so I thought I would spray it with cold water. Disaster! I had not washed the red fabric I had appliqued with & it ran, all through the cream background, nothing I could do to help it, unsalvagable! All I could do was throw it out...but I remade it with different, washed red fabric & still put it out each year!
ReplyDeleteAwesome quilt and thank you for the giveaway. Biggest disaster was making a hexagon shaped table cover and cutting strips to small and then spending hours wondering why they would not fit.....drrrrrr. I now remember measure twice, cut once. Happy stitching
ReplyDeletemy first quilt was for my daughter - i thought i did all the research nessesary to make it - buuut didnt think that consistant 1/4 inch seams could really be thaaat important!
ReplyDeletethis is so gorgeous and so amazing. what a beautiful pattern. thank you for sharing and having a giveaway.

ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous. I love the pattern and the fabric.
ReplyDeleteLet's see my first quilt disaster was a small wall hanging that had nine reindeer. 1 - I didn't get the reindeer centered in their blocks - so some of the antlers are missing. 2- I didn't square up my blocks after adding the reindeer to them. Need I go on --- I got so frustrated I never finished the project.

How lovely to find a new blog to read! I haven't added a new one for ages. My first attempt at patchwork was to make sveral large Bethlehem stars, with no prior knowledge or skill... They're still in the cupboard 15 years later in the hope I might fix them properly and salvage what I can! Love the sandcastles.

ReplyDeletei love this quilt and i'm so happy that i finally figured out how to print it!! thanks again for all your help!!! my three princesses are going to love it!!!
ReplyDeletemy first quilt was a total disaster because i didn't realize that different types of fabric would shrink at different rates. i used all sorts of different fabric without pre-washing and when i did wash it many of the seams split apart. what a huge disappointment after all that work!
That is an incredible quilt! Now for my disaster... was when I tried to make a quilt from an ordered package (Canadian Living) and cut the pieces the wrong size, ran out of fabric, had to wait 10 years before finding any suitable fabric to finish it off!
